Letter from Mission President

Dear Brother and Sister Dean Coats,
I am pleased to notify you that your missionary son, David William Coats, has been called to serve as a trainer for a new missionary entering the mission field. This may be the single most important calling in the mission. As Elder Uchtdorf has explained, there are three things that every missionary remembers of his mission. These are the date of his arrival, the name of his mission president, and probably most important, the name of his first companion. The new missionary will be shaped for not only the rest of his mission but for the rest of his life by this association. Therefore to receive this calling is at once an honor and a very significant responsibility.
