Hola Familia,
That´s cool that Grandma got to visit this week, sounds like lots of fun! (David's Grandma Wood flew in from her mission to Sacramento, California. She needed to see her eye doctor because of silent glaucoma and other eye problems. She is doing well and returned to her mission on Sunday). How many more games does Mikayla´s team have? Is it competitive, or Junior Jazz? Sounds like they´re doing really good. That´s awesome how good the BYU basketball team is doing. Is David Rose coaching, or is his cancer getting worse?

We heard about the earthquake in Haiti; it´s really sad. Tuesday night, I guess the same night as the earthquake, we had a pretty bad storm, and the next morning I went on exchanges to another area that´s close to ours, that´s a little more humble. And a few of the houses of their investigators had blown over, so they were all out, re-putting their houses up. There wasn´t electricty or water in quite a few areas for like 4 days. So there was work to be done cleaning up trees that had fallen over, and people fixing their roofs and things. But I don´t think there was really injuries or deaths, it was just some pretty wicked wind. Maybe it had something to do with the earthquake, but I don´t know.

This week we found a really good, older couple, named Juan and Adelfa Vargas, in their sixties. We found Juan one day. We clapped his house and he was gardening, and he told us to wait for a minute while he went and put a shirt on because you have to be dressed properly to attend to people he said. He was pretty fnny. Then we talked to him about the Book of Mormon, and left him with 3 Nephi 11 to read with his wife. And when we came back like 3 days later they had read and studied that part and knew it very well. He had also read all of the introductions, and most of
1st Nephi. They were so excited about the Book of Mormon that we started teaching more about prophets and the Book of Mormon. Juan stopped us, and opened up his Book of Mormon to 1st Nephi 1:11-12, bore testimony that he knew the book that was shown to Lehi by the angel was the Book of Mormon, and that he knew it was true, and also Adelfa said how strong she felt the spirit in that moment and that she also knew that these things were true. The spirit was so strong in their little home. And as well as Juan and Adelfa, I know the Book of Mormon is true, and it is the word of God revealed through prophets that God has given us to lead and guide us back to him. What other book can fill a house with such a warm spirit. What other book can change peoples lives as drastically as the Book of Mormon does.
